Culture at the office

In 2009, when I still worked as the CEO of itim international, we were contacted by Steelcase. Steelcase is a global office furniture company and they were doing research into the different use of office space across the world. A very interesting topic that already in 2000 fascinated me when I read Jurriaan van Meel’s publication The European Office. Steelcase questioned many organisations in different countries and based their foundings on the work on national culture of Prof. Geert Hofstede and Edward T. Hall. Recently Harvard Business Review published part of this research. They show you in a visually nice way how people in the countries such as China, India, France, Italy, The Netherlands and the USA prefer to have their offices set up. You can even compare countries. Check it out! Or if you want to read more, read Steelcase book Office Code.
